The gay pride parade in Ferndale, Mich., is in its 13th year and has raised more than $350,000 for local charities since it began, the Detroit Free Press reports.
But this year, organizers decided to give some of that money back to the community.
The Ferndale Community Foundation and Ferndale Pride gave $24,500 in grants to 11 community organizations.
"We are eternally thankful for the volunteers, sponsors, vendors, and attendees who come together to keep Ferndale love and rainbows," says Julia Music, executive director of Ferndale Pride.
"The programs receiving funding from these grants have improved the life of Ferndale residents of all ages.
We are very proud to help facilitate the funding for these very worthy organizations making an important impact in our community."
